Modules 1 - 2: Foundational Course

  • Exploring the interface between psychology and nutrition
  • Goals of nutritional therapy
  • Gaining insight into the hidden world of disordered eating
  • Etiological aspects
  • Understanding the Eating Disorder as a disorder of the self
  • Therapeutic concepts such as therapeutic alliance; transitional space; therapist as alter-ego; therapeutic container; transference and countertransference; transactional analysis and resistance
  • Therapeutic skills such as quality of presence; boundary management; and mindfulness
  • Aspects of treatment- multidisciplinary team

 

Module 2

  • Setting the scene for treatment-physical and psychological environment
  • Medical Nutrition therapy-goals; models; phases and stages of treatment; empowerment in the food environment including concepts of intuitive eating and self-regulation
  • Cognitive Control; Emotional Control; Physical Control

  • Psychotherapeutic models: behavioural; addiction model; cognitive behaviour therapy; mindfulness model; dialectical behaviour therapy; psychodynamic therapy; transactional analysis; interpersonal therapy and Jungian analysis
  • Medical Nutrition Therapy including the different phases of treatment and different monitoring sheets
